Text Message

Just wanted to share a cute text message that Carmen sent me. She was in the dinning room and I was in the Kitchen. She likes to text me whether I'm in Oklahoma or just one room over.

"I love you very much this week can we go to buff aloe wild wings"

How can I say no to that?

I guess we will go!

Picture day!

I made the 13 hour trip to Kentucky on Tuesday to spend time with my sister while she is in the hospital. I stayed at my parents last night and kicked Carmen out of her bed so that I could possibly get some shut eye. But some things never change. Mom and Carmen came in 5 times. Carmen just came in and said, "Hey Amanda." I think she was just checking to make sure I actually stayed all night.

Today was picture day for Carmen. And it came as no surprise that all three of them forgot. Mom was all tore up and actually took her out of school brought her home and changed her outfit. This reminded me of the time that it was picture day for Kim, Abby, and me. We of course forgot it was picture day and headed off to school. The car broke down on second street right by Knapp Ave. It was pouring the rain and we had to walk to school. Once we got there and realized it was picture day...we about died. I was wearing an old goldish color jacket, frizzy perm, and about 15 pounds overweight and I smiled big for the camera. I look back now and wish that we would have bought that picture because I'm sure it is something to laugh at.

I guess at least we have a good story to tell.

Happy St. Patricks day!

Well we didn't drink green beer nor did we eat anything green. But we did wear our green. We headed downtown to the St. Patrick's day party, but unfortunately it is an Oklahoma State law that no one under the age of 21 is allowed in a bar area. So Santiago who is 2 months old could not participate. So we decided to hit up the burger shack instead. And I might add we had a lot more fun inside in the warm, smoke free, food fill room than being outside.

We took some photos to capture the moment.

Enjoy.

A housewife I will be...

It is unfortunate but I quit my job on Friday. This weekend has been rough but I feel I have made the right decision both for myself and my family. I don't want to ramble on about what happened but I was not going to let someone take advantage of me. Having my fellow co-workers on my side through this has helped me a lot. I would like to thank all of them for the facebook messages, text messages, phone calls, hugs, etc. Knowing that they support me means the world to me. I am so blessed to be able to leave a job that was not a right fit for me and I will never take that for granted.

Now back to the job search.

Until then....where is the iron? Maybe now I can get my house in order before my guest arrive on Thursday!

It's my ...I mean our birthday !

As most you know...or should know, my birthday is March 10 (Wednesday). I was actually kind of dreading my birthday and not just because I am turning 24. I had put a lot of pressure on Brian to make this very special. I mean I sent him a list of 25 outrageous gifts that he could get me. Why you might ask? This would be the first time I would be celebrating without Abby (twin) in 24 years.

For most people, I don't think they can understand why it is such a big deal. And that of course is because they are selfish and have not had to share a birthday with someone else (jk...but not really). As a twin we get asked a lot of questions "do you all think a like", "can you read her mind". I mean we get a lot of crazy questions and for the most part the answer is no. And although there are times in our life that we wished we weren't twins, mainly because we weren't always known as "individuals" rather "Abby and Amanda" I don't think either one of us would have it any other way. For those of you who know us know we are very different. As a matter of fact, all of us Alderman girls are very very different, but we seem to have a great balance.

But it looks like celebrating all by my lonesome without the other half will have to wait another year! Abby and my friend Dara are flying down March 18 and staying through that Sunday. I immediately called Brian and said, "pressure is off". haha.

I have already started a to do list when they come. I am so excited. I can hardly stand it. We will for sure hit the new bakery that just opened two blocks from my house "Cupcakes to go go", "POPS" restaurant, Bricktown, The Memorial, little boutiques, Lunch with Brian at CHK, play time with the CharChar and a celebration of the twinies birthday on Saturday.
